They once numbered over 5,000 and dotted the landscape of the Canadian Prairies. Today, less than 500 remain and fewer survive each year. 

The grain elevator is a symbol of Canada and its growth through the 20th century. Today, I look at the rise and the fall of this icon of the Canadian landscape.
