It started off as a plan to get 300 NWMP officers to the Canadian west to bring law and order.
It became a legendary ordeal for those officers and recruits thanks to plagues of grasshoppers, dying horses, near starvation and much, much more.
This is the story of the March West of 1874, a near disaster that threatened to end the NWMP before it began.
