It was another big year for Canada as we proceeded through the 1880s. A major newspaper was founded, Regina became a town, a legendary boxer is born and sadly some Fathers of Confederation would die.

Only a few weeks after the Battle of the Courcelette, Canada was once again through into the grinder of the Somme when they were ordered to help the British take Thiepval Ridge. 

The next three days would be a fierce battle that would see success, failure and the loss of hundreds of Canadian troops.
