Today, I'm looking at the history of Selkirk, Manitoba, the Catfish Capital of the World. From the early fur trading forts, to Bullet Joe Simpson, to its marine museum and Chuck The Channel Cat, it has a great history to discover, and some great places to go fishing.

What was a small hamlet of 50 people in 1952, soon became a bustling town of 2,000 one year later after a major oil deposit was found. Drayton Valley is a young community, but it has an interesting history that dates back to David Thompson and the Indigenous before him.
